I guess Etta James reaaaally didn’t appreciate being cut out of that Barack & Michelle Obama first President dance, because she went off on your girl Bey:
Haa, Jeez, what a debacle this thing is. Come on now Etta, you didn’t have to go off on Beyonce like that. And what’s with the open Barack hate? Etta, I’m sorry to tell you this, but I didn’t even know that you were still alive, much less in the running to sing to BO and MO.
Damn. I guess hate truly is timeless.

Lake – the clip is somewhat perplexing in its hatefulness, although Beyonce just played Etta in Cadillac Records, which probably tanked and left Ms. Etta out in the cold. So I agree with you that hating on Prez Obama makes no sense and it’s 2009 so we should all grow up and rise above this petty hatefulness.
That said, Beyonce is perhaps one-tenth the singer Etta James was in her prime (and Etta can almost certainly still out-sing her). So there is a point here, but Etta could have been just a touch less bitter about it.
I agree with Nater. Beyonce had no business singing that song. She did not do it justice and why why she so tearful over her own damn performance. That being said Etta needs to slow her roll.
Beyonce is a lousy singer, and nothing but a trick with man thighs. I have no problem with a real singer calling her and all the other musical bullshesters who have taken over the airwaves out for their lack of talent. Singers should sing, and sell ass second. models and pornstars are there to sell ass. I want to see talent, not some ugly date with fake blonde hair.
