Actually, Coach K is working on a reverse integration play.  As opposed to the “Glory Road” story where Texas Western started the first all-black starters in NCAA history, Coach K is trying to field an all white team in modern sports.  The movie rights have already been sold, it will be called “Dis-Integration: The story of the Duke Basketball Program”

No, I’m serious.  Greg Paulus, formerly of Duke Basketball fame, could be your starting Quarterback next year.

Exactly.  And I don’t know what’s worse about this story, the fact that Pauly is trying to go fantasy land on his college experience or the fact that he truly might be the best option you guys got!

It’s kind of interesting actually, Pauly seems to show up precisely when dynasty programs are on their way down.  But this time, you can’t blame Greg (unlike in the Duke situation)… Nah, Greg is far from your biggest problem in Ann Arbor.  This is your problem:

Anyway, I don’t really get this move for Greg, but you can’t say dude doesn’t have balls.  I mean, why go to a declining program like Michigan that’s probably going to lose a lot next year anyway, just so you can be the face of not one but two monumental collapses.  Suddenly, 15 years from now, cats will be talking about Greg P the Program killer.

And don’t get me wrong, I’m sure Greg P had some game, but football isn’t a plug and play activity.

You need to work on your craft, learn the system and then, come on in and perform.  Greg is out here like it’s pick up in the sand lot.  Only, he’s going to facing some of the most demanding fans in America…AGAIN…so his margin for error will be like zero.

Why Michigan?  Since dude only has one more year of eligibility, why not go to a spot where you can just work on your craft en route to an NFL career?  I mean, Elon College comes to mind or maybe you could kick it with Zeke and the fellas down at FIU..oh, I know, you can go to the worst big program in America, Syracuse, and play the role of the native son coming home.

But Michigan dont’ make no sense.  Anyway, one thing I will say about Greg P, dude has heart.  He aint no beeyatch and he does have the nuts to step in and try to be the best.  Sadly, Rudy was just a movie.  I mean, let’s face it, even Coach K, a cat who has put up with far worse cats than Greg P, was looking like this by Greg’s senior year.

At any rate, I don’t know who needs who more, Michigan or Paulus.  I hate to say it, but I do see that looming disaster on the horizon.

But better that than the slow cooking, left to rust on the bench, extreme makeover ice out Greg got last year from Coach K.  I mean, if you’re going to go down, at least do it in flames, right Mike?

I started Come On Bruh when I had to start defining what it meant to be one of Us to the brothers out there.  I shouldn’t have to do this.  But brothers clearly need guidance in this day and age.  So think of this as my little personal affirmative action program to help brothers keep it real.

I know basketball season is over.  I know no one wants to be posterized.  But the way to avoid getting put on that poster (do kids still have nasty dunk posters in their rooms?) is to deliver that hard foul.  THIS is NOT what you do.

I mean this isn’t even a dunk attempt.  My man just shrugged away from a layup.  I mean from the face to the clinched arms and hands.  That is turrible.  That face is priceless.  I might have to issue a very special Man Up Thursday on this one.

I don’t know how they did it, but the Michigan State Spartans are in the final game and playing for the Championship.  Honestly, I know they were the 2 seed, but this is about as close to Cinderella as you are going to see in the final game of the tourney.  Nobody, and I mean nobody had the Spartans getting this far.  Correction, one of my boys picked State to win it all, but he had them Playing Texas and had Michigan in the Final Four.  So he clearly was drunk, or really didn’t give a damn.  Meanwhile, over in the UvT Bracket, Rosy F. Baby (please say the baby) will win it all with a UNC win tonight.  I’m doing better in the Nickel Plated Bama bracket than I am in my own joint.  Oh well.

Anyway, State has a chance to win it all tonight for one reason and one reason only.  They have the craziest home field advantage that I’ve ever seen.  You know when they said that there was a new NCAA record of 72,000+ fans on Saturday?  I’m thinking about 71,000 of them were Michigan State fans.

It was completely crazy.  When UCONN got one of those nasty dunks that any sports fan is supposed to appreciate the place was dead ass quiet.  When State ripped a dribble out rebound the place f’n exploded.  If there is any chance for Michigan State to beat Carolina it is here, right now, tonight.

More crazy ass dunks would help too.  Look, Carolina has more talent, more focus, more skill and they are so good, they’ve been blowing through everyone.  But they better put away Sparty at the opening jump.  They need to take the crowd out of it early and make it a one sided boring game.  MSU is pulling out all the stops to prevent that from happening.  They are calling for every fan to wear white.  That damn band was cranking so hard in the stadium that I didn’t even know UCONN had a band there until the half.  I’m also thinking MSU fans might riot if they lose.

So MSU, Man Up and put these Tarheels away.  Go to Hell Carolina.  Yes, I’m hating.

Usually, Man Up Monday is about someone who has already messed up.  This time I’m getting it in early.  Sure, some people think I should have busted out the Man Up Monday on the boys in blue two weeks ago when Carolina hammered us…again.  But I wasn’t ready.  Since then we’ve won five games in a row, we have a ACC championship banner to crank up into the rafters of Cameron Indoor Stadium.

So here’s the deal, our #1 and #3 seeds are still alive, that means next weekend we’re going to have to go through Nova and potentially Pitt to make it to the Final Four.  I’ve said Pitt is soft in the past, and they haven’t exactly been impressive over the last few days, but it doesn’t mean I want Duke to run into them.  I’ll take Xavier all day long on that one.  That would be a great prize for beating Nova.  So here is who I need to Man Up…

We’ve actally had a few games in a row where both of these guys show up and play in the same game.  Singler was killing me when he fouled out of the end of the Texas game.  Oh, and Lance Thomas fouled out too.  When your “big” guys are only 6′9″, you don’t need those kids to hit the bench.  I saw Nova play on Saturday and they looked pretty damn good.  Speed and size which is not what we want. But if Henderson is dunking on fools and Singler is doing whatever the hell he does during a game, we’ll be good.

Coach K needs to Man Up too.  Man Up and keep Greg Paulus on the bench.  Man Up and let the players cut loose.  Oh and if  we have the good fortune to have the lead with 5 or 6 minutes left, Man Up and don’t run the slow down offense too early.  Oh and if you can find some more brothers to play for the squad next year, that would be great.

Two more wins and I get to watch my squad in the Final Four live.  So I need them to Man Up and make it happen.  Because you know what happens if you don’t win, right?  You might end up in those streets, making money however you can.  You might have to turn to a lifestyle you aren’t prepared to lead.

Okay fine, Duhon has a day job, he just does lapdances for fun.  I hear he’s a wild boy.

The brackets are set.  The conference championships are over.  Every loss from this point forward sends your ass packing.  Which is kinda dangerous, because with the exception of Louisville, Memphis and, ahem…the Duke Blue Devils, every single Team in the Top 10 caught it in the jaw.

#1 Carolina Tarheels?  Peaced out to barely in the top 25 Florida State:

UConn Huskies?  Upset in Sextuple Overtime by the Orange.

Pitt Caught an L a little too early, the only #1 seed to win all of the big games and lose all of the small games.  Blake Griffin got so crossed up during that game with OK State that he ended up crossed over, cross eyed, and cross dressing.

I mean a LOT of squads lost this week.  If this happens any time after Thursday morning, we’re going to be watching Mississippi State vs. VCU, and nobody wants that.  Let me tell you as a long time fan of a squad that is always near a #1 seed but manages to lose their conference tourney a little too early.  Going into a must win game right after coming off of a loss against an obviously lesser team?  Nothing shakes your confidence like that.

Lake is setting up the Us Versus Them brackets this week.  Lake and I will probably push a Duke a little too far in our brackets.

Pitt got a #1 seed, but they are clearly soft as hell.  That said if they get past the cupcake teams, they might actually make some noise.  Tennessee might make a real run at those cats, and the tournament committee is really trying to trip them up with that East Tennessee State who is famous for playing cats tight.  They also set Memphis up with some potential killers to punish them for playing in a punk ass Conference USA.  Maryland or Cal followed up by Mizzou?  Meanwhile UCONN slides right into the Elite 8 with very little resistance.

These top teams need to Man Up, or were going to be watching the Cinderella tournament. This is the most unstable season in years.  Big teams have lost to low level squads.  No team has held #1 for more than two weeks in a row since Carolina was playing cupcakes back in December. That means that this might be the wildest bracket in a long, long time.  If history is any indication, my bracket will usually be completely worthless by long about 4pm on Saturday.  I’ve also got tickets for the Final Four in Detroit, I’ve got a fresh Duke shirt being delivered for the occasion.  I hope to see my boys there…but secretly I just hope to see them still playing on the second weekend.  We can’t tap out early again, can we?  Go Duke.  Man Up!
